A plane passenger is causing quite a stir after she revealed she rarely puts her phone in airplane mode during a flight.

TikToker Isabella Sinis shared a video of her sitting in a plane as sheconfessed she never switches her devices to airplane modeeven when the flight attendant makes an announcement telling passengers to do so before takeoff.

“Does anyone actually put their phone on airplane mode? I have never unless it was to charge my phone faster but neva casually on a plane,” she wrote in white text over the clip as she records herself with a confused expression on her face.

In the caption of the June 12 post, she added, “could never be me.”

One user pointed out that flight attendants make that announcement “for a reason” so the rule should always be followed.

Others noted how they don’t want to be responsible for any consequences that could result from not using airplane mode.

“Girl, yes. If a plane is going down it ain’t because of me,” one said. Another added, “Yes, too paranoid for that.”

One user asked Sinis’s reasoning. “Why not though? I doubt you get service in the air so what’s the point. You’re just risking interference," they commented.

“Everyone saying yes but I legit thought it was normal not to,” one wrote. Another added, “Guess it’s just me and you.”

One person explained that they never turn it on because they didn’t think it would impact the pilot’s ability to communicate during the flight.

“I don’t ever since I learned it doesn’t even affect the plane. It only affects connections on the ground,” they wrote.

Ground interference from electronic devices being used during flights is a genuine concern in the aviation industry, according toCNN.

“5G wireless network bandwidth spectrum is remarkably close to the reserved aviation bandwidth spectrum, which may cause interference with navigation systems near airports that assist with landing the aircraft,” the outlet reported in April 2023.

While more research needs to be conducted in order to confirm whether 5G technology actually does have an impact on an aircraft’s ability to land, the European Union is not as concerned with keeping devices in airplane mode.
