Pluto Enters Aquarius for the First Time in 200 Years and It's Signaling Radical Shifts in Society

Pluto, the planet of intensity, destruction, transformation and rebirth, will enterAquariuson Nov. 19 and remain there until March 8, 2043.

According to PEOPLE’s resident astrologer Kyle Thomas, Pluto can provide “tremendous opportunities for renewal,new beginningsand spiritual and financial growth.” However, he says the planet is also associated with negative energy tied to “obsession” and “power struggles,” to name a few.

A suddenchange or disruption is likely to occurto the themes that Aquarius rule, including “social organization, social media, humanitarianism, technology, equality, civil rights, socialism, space travel and exploration and astrology.”

Thomas notes that we’ve “had a taste” of this energy in recent years and it will become “even more noticeable” in the years to come. “Pluto shows us the dark side of the zodiac sign it is moving through so that it can be exposed to the human collective,” he says.

“Pluto transits always bring great power to the areas that the zodiac sign rules, but often to an extreme and destructive way,” Thomas explains. “Thus, humanity is granted a karmic lesson about how to proceed.”

Thomas describes Plutonian energy as “malefic,” noting it “brings forth dramatic and painful experiences in order to shed light on truth and bring us incredibly profound growth.”

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

It’s time to connect,Aries! Pluto roars through your fulfillment and social sector for the upcoming two decades, which Thomas says could bring “major changes” to your network or aspirations.

“You could soon be attracting connections that transform your life positively or negatively,” he puts forth, noting that they could be either “influential” or “manipulative.” You may also discover that your hopes and dreams are “coming true” — or the opposite, “turn your attention to other areas.”

Expect to feel “hungry for power” during this time, says Thomas, especially within a community filled with friends or strangers. Intense “all-or-nothing relationships” may be formed and you may feel a desire to “reach your greatest aspirations no matter the cost.”

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

Prepare for power moves,Taurus! Pluto has moved back into your professional sphere, where it will be for nearly two decades.

“This could cause you to skyrocket to greater levels of fame, power, authority and glory,” says Thomas. “It could also prompt you to change your ambitions, image or legacy because they aren’t working for you any longer.” He stresses, “Consider the mark you’d like to leave on the world.”

During this time, Thomas says “you will demand to be seen as powerful and in control” especially when it comes to career and recognition. “You may aspire to always rise up as the boss,” he puts forth.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

You could be on the move,Gemini! Thomas says Pluto’s transit forms a “beautiful angle” with your sign, one that could last for next two decades.

He says it could “fire you up” to get involved around the following themes: “long-distance travel or immigration, academics or media matters.” He adds, “If you were to do so, you could find that your life is forever changed.”

You will ““hunger for deep transformation” at this time, according to Thomas, perhaps even on an “intellectual, philosophical or spiritual level.” He says, “Your hunger for knowledge and new perspectives could become nearly insatiable.”

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

It’s time to get vulnerable,Cancer. Pluto has returned to your intimacy and assets zone, where it will be for nearly two decades.

“This means that you could find that your needs around trust, sexuality or vulnerability are evolving in vivid or intense new ways,” says Thomas. “You could be hungering for closeness in a way you’ve never known before.”

Finances can be impacted, too. Thomas predicts a “transformation” could be made to debts, loans, assets or investments.

Feelings around this time will be “tremendously intense,” specifically involving intimacy and sexuality. “You will crave it on the deepest of levels,” he puts forth, “demanding complete and total union” or rather “running in the opposite direction.”

Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)

Things are about the look a little different,Leo. Pluto has moved across the sky from you for nearly two decades.

“Partnerships will begin to evolve and the people you unite with will change,” says Thomas, adding that your “relationship needs” will also switch up too. “You could be attracting healing connections that lift you up or intense and dramatic connections instead.”

Thomas stresses, “If your connections are not fulfilling you, you are being forced to face it and change your path.” Above all, he says you “secretly seek to transform” through your core relationships, whether it be a positive or negative connection.

“You hunger for union but could just as easily revert to an independent desire,” he adds.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

You’re on go mode,Virgo! Pluto has moved into your sector of productivity for nearly two decades.

“You may notice that your routines and responsibilities are radically going through an overhaul,” says Thomas. “The patterns you’ve been in for ages may now require more adjustment.”

For example, he says work at your place of employment may suddenly become “increasingly intense” or a “major change” to you health may occur. Despite the potential challenges, he says to seek comfort in knowing that it’s “meant to push you to become a stronger” version of yourself.

Thomas says feelings of “obsession” and “intensity” may consume your mind when it comes to your routines, responsibilities and habits at this time. Fortunately, if you focus you can make the most of this energy for the better.

Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)

“This means that you are sure to experience vivid moments tied to love, dating, children, fertility or creativity, sports or hobbies,” says Thomas. “You may find that one of these themes changes your life forever.”

If you aren’t in a relationship, Thomas says you may find that you’re attracting “overwhelming, passionate or destructive romantic relationships.” If coupled up, he says you may be hungering to “deepen your romance” more than ever before.

Expect to your heart to know what it wants at this time. “You will crave for deep, intense, provocative and transformative experiences around your desires.”

Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)

There’s no place like home,Scorpio! Pluto will stay in your domestic zone for nearly two decades.

“This ensures that intense evolution will happen around your home, family, real estate and domestic life,” says Thomas. “You could decide to move, relocate, renovate or redecorate — or rather, step in to help a family member.”

While your emotions are always deep and intense, Thomas says this energy “will intensify them even further.” He explains, “You will find a great power to release yourself from past emotions and habits, but could find that you become more demanding or controlling around feelings and family.”

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)
