Rachael Harris Says She and Best Friend Cheryl Hines 'Can Find the Humor in Every Single Situation' (Exclusive)

Rachael HarrisandCheryl Hinesare best friends through thick and thin!

Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE on the red carpet, theLuciferalum, 56, opens up about her long lasting friendship withCurb Your Enthusiasmstar Hines.

“I’ve always said to Cheryl that if she ever leaves me, I’m going with her,” Harris jokes. “So we’ve been friends since around 1995. And the thing that I like to say about Cheryl these days is I love her. She’s the first person I want to talk to in the morning when I wake up. And the last person I want to talk to before I go to bed at night.”

“She is my heart,” she gushes, adding that the actress lives just three minutes away from her, so they see each other increasingly often. “I’m so lucky that I have her because I’m dealing with school and work and the entertainment business changing.”

According to Harris, the pair also remain so tight because of their connection to their comedy alma mater,The Groundlings, the sketch comedy school where the pair met.

“We can text all day and then also then have an hour-long conversation and still talk about nothing. But it’s fun because we can finish each other’s sentences and just laugh,” theSuitsactress adds of Hines. “And I think that we are in the Groundlings for a reason. We love comedy. We can find the humor in every single situation.”

Earlier this week, both Harris and Hines made an appearance at The Groundlings' 50th anniversary party — where Hines said that she was “feeling good” amid her husbandRobert F. Kennedy Jr.‘salleged “personal relationship"with aNew York Magazinejournalist.

Hines also spoke about her friendship with Harris at the event, describing to PEOPLE at the time how the sketch comedy group “changed everything” in her career before her time onCurb.

“I met my best friends here. Rachael and I have been best friends for a long time. We don’t have to put a date on it. And I learned how to improvise at the Groundlings and do sketch comedy,” she said. “And if I hadn’t learned how to improvise, I would’ve never gotten part ofCurb Your Enthusiasm. So, I mean, it just put me on a different path in every way.”
