Reese Witherspoon's Son Deacon Phillippe in Talks to Star in Movie with Liam Neeson

Deacon Phillippe, the son ofReese WitherspoonandRyan Phillippe, is in talks to make his feature-length film debut alongsideLiam Neeson.

On Friday, Aug. 30,Deadlinereported that Deacon, 20, may be starring in a brand-new heist film alongside Neeson, 72. Titled4 Kids Walk into a Bank,the movie will also feature Talia Ryder, Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place), Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl) andJack Dylan Grazer(It), according to the outlet.

“Neeson will play ex-bank robber Danny, whose teenage granddaughter Paige (Ryder) means the world to him,” according to a synopsis from Deadline. “So when she overhears that his former gang is pulling him back in for one more score to pay a debt, she comes up with the only logical solution: She enlists her three ride-or-die best friends to rob the bank the day before so he doesn’t have to.”

This isn’t Deacon’s first foray into the professional entertainment world. Last year, the college student announced thathe was releasing his debut album, titledA New Earth.

The 12-track album debuted in April 2023, during Deacon’s first year studying music at New York University. The 20-year-old told PEOPLE at the time that recording it in his dorm while attending school was “one of the most challenging things I ever did.”

The series' creator,Mindy Kaling, previously toldEntertainment Tonightthat Deacon’s mom Witherspoon had been candid with her abouthis desire to get into acting.

Ryan, 49, spoke about about his son’s creative endeavors. In August 2022, he toldETin that he was “so proud” of Deacon.

“I am so proud,” Ryan said at the time. “He’s about to go to college for music. That’s his primary focus. The acting thing he likes to do, and he will do according to what his appetite for it is, but his focus is primarily music.”
