Josh, 48, married his longtime loveMcKenzie Rollinson Sunday, Oct. 13, atGlen Falls Housein Round Top, New York. The couple enjoyed an “autumnal and witchy” long wedding weekend alongside 140 guests who were encouraged to bond over campfires, lawn games and music.
“We are both from New England and had envisioned getting married in the autumn because we love the foliage and wanted to be able to share that with some of our guests who had perhaps never experienced this magical time of year,” McKenzie tells PEOPLE.

The equestrian continues, “The entire weekend itself was all spirit and heart and truly felt like a magical escape to the woods with all of our nearest and dearest.”

“We wanted our family and friends to feel like they were away at camp,” McKenzie says. “We tried to create a private environment in which all of our guests could mingle and enjoy each other’s company, tell stories, and create new bonds with people who have been so important to us for so many years … Crackling campfires, creaking wood stoves, the smell of good food and drink alongside autumn’s finest foliage created a multi-sensory backdrop.”

On Sunday, the couple was committed to having their ceremony outside — but the “ominous” weather didn’t make it easy. After checking the weather app for the sixth time, Josh made the call to just “go for it.”
Moments later, it began pouring rain. The guests, some of whom ran across the street to steal yellow-and-white striped pool umbrellas for the ceremony, were then corralled onto the front porch of the hotel but were able to return to the field after the rain mostly cleared five minutes later.

Josh’s nephews,8-year-old Ashe and 6-year-old Axel, and McKenzie’s nephew, 6-year-old Oscar, served as ring bearers.
“As a solution to the problem of having three eager boys and only needing two ring boxes, we added a third ‘mystery’ box,” Josh says. “The mystery box ended up having a pretzel in it, which our officiant Jack [McBrayer] promptly ate upon its discovery.”
The comedian’s niece, 3-year-old Addie, and McKenzie’s niece, 3-year-old Madeline, were flower girls.
“But I don’t think many flowers were tossed!” the bride admits. “It was probably pretty intimidating as a little kid to walk into this huge field with a huge crowd of people and bagpipes playing. I think Addie got a ride from her dad, Seth, and Madeline walked very slowly with her mom, my stepsister Katie.”

The groom — who wore a three-piece navy blue striped herringbone suit from Double RL with a Paul Smith tie and Paul Smith black boots — couldn’t hold back his tears when he saw his bride for the first time walking down the aisle.
“Now, I’m a crier. And there wasa lotof crying this weekend. But I do wish I could have held it together a bit more on her approach,” Josh tells PEOPLE. “Because I definitely don’t have a cool cry face. And as a result, I’m a mess in all of those pictures.”

“It was such a profound experience to venture out into the dark and moody afternoon to the soundtrack of a bagpipe where all of our closest friends and family were waiting with anticipation,” shares McKenzie, whose best friend Julia Austin served as maid of honor.
The wedding ceremony arch was especially meaningful to the bride and groom because McKenzie’s father, Scott, added a personal touch.
“[My dad] has been doing stained glass design and restoration work for the majority of his life, and I wanted to incorporate one of his windows into the ceremony,” she explains. “The morning of the ceremony, he carefully hung a window he made in 1987 beneath the wedding arch, and it completely pulled the whole design together. This window has been hanging in the living room of my dad’s house my entire life, so it felt like a piece of home was with us all.”
During the ceremony, McBrayer acknowledged members of the couple’s family who are no longer with them, including pets.
“Because in a way, that guinea pig, horse, those dozen or so rabbits, 15 cats and 19 dogs have all played a part in making us who we are today,” Josh jokingly explains.
The groom’s mother did a brief reading that moved him to tears.
“She had chosen two gorgeous selections which combined for less than one minute. Talk about having respect for your audience!” Josh says. “The first was Catherine speaking about Heathcliff fromWuthering Heights:‘He shall never know how I love him, but that, it’s not because he’s handsome Nelly but because he’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.’ "
He adds, “And she concluded with Raymond Carver’s short poem [Late Fragment]: ‘And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.’ "

The mother-son duo would later dance to Wilson Pickett’s “Land of 1000 Dances,” which they had previously rehearsed in the basement of their New Hampshire home for about 10 minutes.
McKenzie danced with each of her parents. For the father-daughter dance, she selected Bon Jovi’s “I’ll Be There for You,” and for the mother-daughter dance, Talking Heads' “Once in a Lifetime.”
The bride and groom’s first dance was to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons' “You’re a Song (That I Can’t Sing).”

The remaining mismatched vintage dinnerware and glasses were also sourced from the same company.
“Many of these items I grew up with, as my mom and I used to spend hours combing antique stores,” McKenzie explains. “Having meaningful experiences like this reflected in our decor brought those memories of dinner at my mom’s house to life in a cozy and colorful way.”

She continues, “A favorite detail that some of our guests took home as mementos were vintage salt and pepper shakers. There were more than three dozen sets dotting the tables, adding color, kitsch, charm and conversation to the table settings — everything from a pair of tomatoes to the vintage bride and groom [figures] at our sweetheart table.”

“Everyone was able to walk around and see all these different moments from our lives,” McKenzie says. “It was a fun detail that helped our guests bond over shared years of love and friendship. Eventually, all of these photos will become a photo wall in our house.”
Vintage postcards served as place cards, which McKenzie sourced from a local shop in her hometown and handwrote guest names onto. She spent hours combing through collections with her parents to find postcards that had a sentimental meaning for each guest.
“We hoped they would start as a fun discovery and turn into conversations across the table,” she says. “We were thrilled to see people took them home as mementos — nothing was more exciting than getting mail at summer camp as a kid, and we felt like this personal touch was a nod to that theme.”

Josh’s favorite memory from the celebration was singing to McKenzie. Although he sings every week on theFamily Trips with the Meyers Brotherspodcast, which he co-hosts with Seth, he had never serenaded his now-wife before.
“So I took the mic just after our parents' dances, and before we opened up the dance floor to the whole party, and had the DJ drop the proverbial needle,” he continues. “Our guests sang along, McKenzie was very surprised, and then our DJ (DJ Sam Houdek from Dart Collective) set the party on fire.”
The morning after their wedding, the couple — who got engaged last July atop Massachusetts' famous Bridge of Flowers — held a farewell brunch with their loved ones at Trotwood Restaurant.
