Shay Mitchellis having “so much fun” as a mom to her two daughters.

While chatting with PEOPLE at an H&M party in New York City on Monday, Nov. 18, the actress, 36, opened up about her experience raising her two daughters:Rome, 2, andAtlas, 5, whom she shares with her boyfriendMatte Babel.

For thePretty Little Liarsstar, parenting is “wild but so much fun,” she tells PEOPLE.

“I’m having the best time ever,” she adds.

She continues, “Honestly, they’re teaching me a lot of things that I didn’t know about myself,” including, “patience” and “how to balance.”

“They boss me around and it’s a really fun time,” Mitchell adds with a laugh. “Every day I get to learn something new, but I also get to see things through their eyes.”

In April, the proud mom shared a carousel ofphotoson Instagram from avacation with her two daughtersas she admitted in the caption, “Spring break looks a lot different from how it used to.”

In anotherpost, Mitchell poked fun at how quickly her older daughter is picking things up as she shared a photo of herself looking chic in a blue one-piece swimsuit, sunglasses and a crochet sunhat. In the next few photos, she zoomed in to show the reflection of Atlas in the lenses of her glasses as the little girl served as a photographer for her mom.

“Some people have ig husbands/wives and I have my four year old,” she jokingly captioned the post.
