In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at theShrinkingseason 2 premiere, the actor, 44, shares an honest conversation with his onscreen daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell), who confronts him about the recent changes he’s made in his life.

The highly anticipated second installment will continue telling the story of Segel as a grieving therapist named Jimmy, who “starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks,” per the official logline. “Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives…including his own.”

Alongside Segel,Harrison Ford,Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie,Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, Christa Miller and Ted McGinley are all returning for season 2.Brett Goldsteinwill also appear as a special guest star.

“Man, I think it is so brave that you’re being this honest with me,” Jimmy begins, addressing his daughter sitting across from him. “Yes, I am stressed out about grace, but that’s work day dad, nighttime daddy is fine.”

When Alice makes a face at his “nighttime daddy” comment, Jimmy acknowledges he “heard it” and he’s “not going to say it again.”
