Solange Knowlesis sharing an update on her health.
The singer, 38, this week revealed she’d received multiple diagnoses in 2018 as she commented on anInstagrampost from her fellow musician Shaun Ross, 33, in which he spoke candidly about his journey with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) as a result of long COVID.
Per theMayo Clinic, POTS “affects the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary body functions such as heart rate and blood pressure.”

“I got diagnosed with POTS, Sjogrens and Mcas in 2018 and really relate to not wanting your health to be your identity,” she added.
In her message, Knowles gave a shoutout toDysautonomia International, a non-profit that, according to its website, “seeks to improve the lives of individuals living with autonomic nervous system disorders through research, physician education, public awareness and patient empowerment programs.”

Knowles hasn’t spoken much about her health journey in the past, but didreveal in December 2017that she’d have to cancel her New Year’s Eve performance at Afropunk Fest in South Africa due to an autonomic disorder she had been “quietly treating” for the past five months.
The musician wrote in a since-deleted post, “[It’s] been a journey that hasn’t been easy on me… Sometimes I feel cool, and other times not so cool at all.”
She explained at the time that her diagnosis was “complicated” and that she was “still learning so much myself,” without revealing what type of autonomic disorder she’d been diagnosed with.
