Police searching area of Putnam Valley for suspect in Somers fatal shooting split with Fernando Jimenez

Police in New York State are looking for a man accused of shooting three people they say he knew, including two children.

Law enforcement officials responded to a shooting late in the evening of Monday, Oct. 29, at a Somers, N.Y., location, where they found one person dead, theNew York State Policesaid in a statement.

Police have identified the suspect in the shooting as 40-year-old Fernando Jimenez.

Two victims were transported to local hospitals, police said.

New York State Police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for further information.

Schools in the bordering Putnam Valley, where the suspect was last seen, are closed on Tuesday, theschool districtsaid in a release.

The release said some residents are under shelter-in-place orders.

Jimenez was seen in black sweatpants and a gray sweatshirt during the incident, per police. He is approximately 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighs 170 lbs.

State police are requesting residents in the area to review their security footage and/or trail cameras for any possible sightings of Jimenez.
