The trailer begins with a social worker asking, “So you’ve just been made homeless and you want to put your daughter in emergency care?”

As shots of Joan stroking her daughter’s hair on a bus bench flash on screen, she tells the social worker that giving her daughter up wasn’t a choice she wants to make.

“Is Kelly in danger?” the woman asks before Joan leaves the office in tears, but with ambition in her eyes.

With plans to get a job “to support us,” Joan finds herself in a precarious situation when she seemingly seduces a sales clerk to get access to the store’s jewels.

“I’ve got nothing, I need cash now,” she sighs as the trailer transitions to scene of her finding a stash of cash in a drawer.
