Taylor Zakhar Perezis hoping for triple theRed, White and Royal Bluefun.

The star of the LGBT romantic comedy, 32, spoke toVarietyon the red carpet at the PrimetimeEmmy Awardsred carpet on Sunday, Sept. 15. Asked if during filming he thought a sequel would follow, Perez said, “I think I hoped.”

Perez then went further in his hopes for the hit film: “I hope that there’s three of them,” theKissing Booth 3star said. “I think there could be a nice trilogy.”

At this year’s Emmy Awards, the film was nominated for outstanding television movie. (The category’swinner, announced last weekend, wasQuiz Lady.)

Speaking to PEOPLEupon the movie’s release last August, López, 47, said that “queer audiences don’t actually get to participate in fairy tales themselves too often… It’s interesting because it feels like queer audiences are one of the main consumers of such stories, and yet we didn’t have a lot of our own."

López and McQuiston, who teamed up for the first, are writing an all-new screenplay for the sequel.
