During the After the Final Rose special, Tran shared that Starder’s feelings changed almost immediately.

“As soon as we had left Hawai’i, things were just different,” she told hostJesse Palmer. “It kind of just felt like he was pulling away all the promises that he had made to me — wanting to move somewhere together, and wanting to have this future planned out, and wanting to see each other all the time.”

Strader later ended the engagement during a 15-minute phone call, she revealed.

When Palmer later asked Tran what she wanted her last words to Strader to be, she knew exactly what she was going to say to him.

“I hope that you learn that the weight of your words matter, and that if you’re going to promise something, you should be able to fulfill those promises,” she said. “I just I simply couldn’t have done what you have done in that position. And when I love something, I nurture it and I value it, and I don’t throw it away the next day.”

During an interview onGood Morning Americaon Sept. 4, Tran said she’s ready to “move on with my life” following the couple’s split — including taking part in the upcoming season ofDancing with the Stars, on which she will be paired with pro-dancerSasha Farber.
