When it comes to songs that make people want to break out and dance at a wedding— it’s no surprise thatWhitney Houstonis queen of the dance floor!
The company analyzed 2,000 wedding-themed playlists and nearly 50,000 songs on Spotify to identify the top tracks played at weddings, according toBrides. During its investigation, it found that the 1987 hit song was included in about 24% of wedding-related playlists, appearing 484 times.
However, Houston isn’t the only performer who was popular, asAbba’s classic song “Dancing Queen” was right behind it, appearing in approximately 20% of wedding playlists, appearing 397 times.
Artūras Asakavičius, co-founder and CEO of Breezit, noted that several of the top songs on the list are “wedding classics” that have found popularity on the wedding scene years — and sometimes even decades — after their release.
“Music plays an incredibly important role in wedding celebrations, and it’s fascinating to see which songs are still hailed as wedding classics, even years after their initial release,” said Asakavičius, perBride.
“Wedding playlists can help create lasting memories, capturing both the joy of the dance floor and the romance of walking down the aisle,” he added. “Certain songs have become intertwined with the celebration of a wedding, which is why some have become timeless classics for many couples’ big day.”
