Tom Hollandgrew up in England, but he is no stranger to speaking in an American accent.
As Holland, 28, appeared on the Wednesday, Oct. 23 episode ofLive with Kelly and Markto promote his newnon-alcoholic beerbrandBero, he and hostKelly Ripadiscussed whether people in London, his hometown, think he has lost any of his English accent.
“No. I think it’s really important when you do what we do for a living to really have a strong sense of self, so I’ve always really tried to stay true to where I’m from, who I am, the way my parents raised me,” Holland said during the episode. “My accent has changed a little bit from where I am in London. My parents sometimes get a little upset that I drop my Ts. My parents can be quite proper.”
Holland portrays a bonafide American hero in Peter Parker / Spider-Man in theSpider-Manmovies, which necessitate he drop his English accent for the big screen. “It used to be hard but I’ve spent so much time here and I’ve done it so often that it feels almost second nature,” he said of speaking in an American accent, when Ripa asked if playing a different accent is difficult.

“And what’s really interesting, when I do stuff like we’re doing now, chat show stuff, I feel more comfortable in an American accent so I have to really remind myself backstage,” he added. “Like, ‘You’re English, Don’t speak in an American accent. That’s not your accent!’ "

Holland’s appearance on Ripa’s morning show came directly on the heels of his Oct. 22Tonight Showannouncement that hisfourthSpider-Manmovie will begin filming in summer 2025. The actor is alsoin talksto costar inChristopher Nolan’s next movie withMatt Damon, though Holland has not publicly commented on recent reporting regarding the secretive project.

“To be perfectly honest with you, I kind of live wherever the wind takes me,” he told Ripa, when asked where he is living these days. “I’m so lucky to be working and sort of booked and blessed and traveling around, so my suitcase is really my home. Which I love. It’s great to do it now in your 20s when it’s still really fun. So right now, I live all over the place.
