Tony Goldwynopted for a non-traditional dance at his daughter Anna’s wedding — and it was a hit!
While promoting his filmEzraonLive with Kelly and Markon Tuesday, Nov. 5, the 64-year-old actor reflected on his eldest daughter’s Aug. 17 nuptials, including the speech he barely made it through without crying and the duo’s lively father-daughter dance.
After co-hostKelly Ripaasked whether the pair did any choreographing ahead of the special moment, thefather of tworevealed that they didn’t, instead calling on their decades of history — Anna is 34 — as dance partners.
“Here’s the thing: Anna said to me, ‘Dad, let’s not do a traditional, slow [dance]… let’s do something really fun,’ ” he explained. “And ever since she was little, I had taught her how to swing dance, like the jitterbug, you know?”
“So it’s just something we always did when she was a little girl that was fun and she’ll know all the moves and everything,” Goldwyn continued. “And so she wanted to do that.”
“It literally got everybody on the dance floor for the entire time,” Goldwyn said of the song-dance combo. “So the wedding was a success.”

TheLaw & Orderstar (who shares Anna and daughter Tess, 29, with wifeJane Musky) also revealed that he was surprisingly — at least to his family — able to make it through his speech at the nuptials without shedding a single tear.
When co-hostMark Consuelosasked Goldwyn how he thinks he did at the wedding as a dad, theScandalalum admitted, “I honestly did great.”
“For years, since my kids were little … I’m sort of the crier in the family, so they said, ‘Dad, you’re never going to make it. You’re never going to make it through your wedding speech, you’re going to be a mess, we’re going to be humiliated,’” he recalled. “And I got through my speech!”
“It was weird!” he added of the emotional feat. “I did, I said what I needed to say. It was beautiful, yeah. It was really an amazing experience.”

News of Goldwyn making it through his wedding speech without tears comes after the actor previously told PEOPLE hewould likely be “a mess” at Anna’s August ceremony— and have a tough time walking her down the aisle without becoming weepy.
“That’s what I’m most nervous about, is being able to get through it,” he said in May. “Because I just get very emotional regarding my children.”
