Mattel also weighed on her return to social media after a months-long hiatus.

“When I left social media, it was a dumpster fire, and now it’s more like an entire dump on fire.” she told PEOPLE exclusively after her self-imposed break last June. “But you know, my break taught me something very valuable — that drag is fun and enjoyable, and it’s not worth stressing out about. Besides, I live on the fun side of the internet.”

Mattel also weighed in on how members of the LGBTQ+ community can thrive amid a changing political climate.

“Well, you know that thing, like, ‘When they go low, we go high.’ I think that also means hair.” Mattel said. “So let’s see the wigs. Let’s see the extensions. Let’s see the Bumpits.”

“I’m never gonna leave the United States,” she concluded. “I’m gonna fight for everything that matters.”
