Viral Baby Pygmy Hippo Moo Deng Now Has Her Own Catchy Song, and It's Available in 4 Languages

The cute animal skyrocketed to fame in September after videos of her at theKhao Kheow Open Zooin Chonburi Province, Thailand, spread on social media. She is now the subject of a new song titled “Moodeng Moodeng.” The upbeat track is available in four different languages: Thai, English, Chinese, and Japanese.

“Please, mommy, come play with me / Bounce with me, mom,” the lyrics add.

The accompanying music video shows the hippo, now four months old, bouncing along to the words as the lyrics play beside her.

The song comes after theBBCshared that Moo Deng, whose name translates to “bouncy pig,” hadhelped more than double the number of visitorsto the Khao Kheow Open Zoo, per the

“These behaviors are not only cruel but also dangerous,” the zoo’s director, Narongwit Chodchoi, said in a statement shared via the BBC. “We must protect these animals and ensure that they have a safe and comfortable environment.”

The Thai zoo’sInstagramandTikTokpages are filled with Moo Deng-related content since the venue announced the hippo’s birth on Sept. 6.

The English translation ofthe announcementreads: “Let me formally introduce myself. My name is Moo Deng, a female pygmy hippopotamus born on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. My mother is Jona, 25 years old, and my father is Tony, 24 years old. I’m currently single and 59 days old. 🤣🤣”

Zookeeper Atthapon Nundee previously told theAssociated Pressthat Moo Deng’s level of fame “was beyond expectation.”
