Police in Florida have confirmed there was no active shooter at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on Thursday, Aug. 29.
“ALERT: There is NO active shooter at@WaltDisneyWorld’s Magic Kingdom,” the statement read. “A fight occurred, and a ‘popping’ sound was heard that we believe was a balloon.”
“Guests began running and that’s how the active shooter rumor started," officials added. “There is no active shooter.”

Speaking toFOX 35, park-goer Glenn Brady said that he and his family were in one of the stores when people suddenly came rushing inside, adding that the security told people to take cover.

“Some had to leave their strollers and their carts,” Brady, who was visiting from Kansas, said. “So, we were there like 15 minutes, and then we were ushered to another location behind the store where we still remained for, like, another, 30 minutes or so until we were finally ushered out of the park.”
The park guests were eventually let out to use buses and a ferry to return to the parking lot.
Disney World also released a statement following the scare.
