If you think yourbirth chartwas right on, then you haven’t heard of Uranian astrology, which is more concise.
Heather Roan Robbins, esteemed astrologer and author ofStarcodes Astro Pocket Oracle: A 56-Card Deck and Guidebook(amongst several other amazing books), explains that theUranian systembegan as a shift in astrological thinking after Pluto was discovered.
Robbins adds that Uranian astrology harnesses points of energy, which serve as catalysts for activity.
So, what exactly does Uranian astrology reveal about ourselves and how is it different from regular astrology? Read ahead to learn more.
The primary factor differentiating Uranian astrology from traditional astrology is the placement and interpretation of the 10th house or Midheaven, known as the Meridian in this method. According to Western astrology, the 10th house represents our career public standing; however, in Uranian astrology, it is used as the place in which we find our soul purpose centering on the individual rather than their public persona. Instead of this house focusing on what we put out into the world, it centers around what we put into ourselves.
Another distinction is that the substance of Uranian astrology is energy — not physical spaces or places like planets hold — even though they are still used. We are using a system that is based on points of power that are called Transneptunian planets. The main two are Hades and Cupido. The others are Zeus, Kronos, Apollon, Admetos, Vulcanus and Poseido. These show hyper-specific patterns that affect us and our emotional responses to them.
The meaning of the signs is the same — even though they are in midpoint form. A Virgo Sun and Moon midpoint at 7 degrees holds the same power as it does in traditional astrology. But, it could spark an event, connection or sentiment.
We would say that the Sun and Moon midpoint energizes our emotional desires and depths in a Virgo capacity. Meaning that one might be an overthinker, perfectionist, good listener and practical in their feelings.
Rather than casting a birth chart, Uranian astrology requires the use of a midpoint tree (this is the easiest way to begin studying Uranian astrology). It still requires your birthday, year, time, and location — the same information as one would use for their birth chart.
Uranian astrology focuses on using midpoints as opposed to traditional houses in the birth chart. Midpoints are the middle degrees of two planets. They act as triggers and catalysts for emotion, change and growth. Looking at midpoints can help one understand why you might have a specific reaction to a person or situation. For instance, if the midpoint of your Gemini Sun (our ego) at 7 degrees and Sagittarius Moon (our feelings) at 7 degrees is 7 degrees born Virgo. This can mean that you find people within 1 degree prior and past this midpoint to be comforting.
Beyond theSun sign, we can apply that midpoint to any planet that falls within the orb of 1 degree. So, for example, if your mom’s Mercury (planet of communication) connects with this midpoint, you might talk to them every day.
Let’s say your significant other’s Jupiter (which denotes expansion and growth) links up with that sign and degree, they might want to take care of you and build a home with you. Now, if their Pluto sign and degree (Pluto is a planet that brings unexpected change) align with this midpoint, the relationship could be destructive, yet helps you evolve into the person you were meant to be.
When it comes to planning events, midpoints could lead toan ideal wedding dateor moment to plan a first date. Looking at the transits of the stars with midpoints can also concisely monitor one’s moods.
SinceVenus and Jupiter are beneficial planets, they’ll bring luck to romance, friendships and finances. The Sun brings our life goals into play and Moon heightens our emotional state. The planetary midpoint combinations that yield the most positive energy for love, money and happiness include the following: Venus and Sun, Venus and Moon, Venus and Jupiter, Sun and Jupiter, Sun and Moon, as well as Moon and Jupiter.
