John Mellencampand his girlfriend,Kristin Kehrberg, have their friends to thank for their romance.

The “Hurts So Good” singer and the movie producer hit it off when they first met at a house party in New York City. He confirmed the timeline of his relationship with Kehrberg during an August 2023 interview withBill Maher.

While chatting with the comedian on hisClub Randompodcast, the recording artist revealed he met his girlfriend “seven months ago” and that “she has not left my side in seven months.”

Mellencamp offered another rare update on his life with Kehrberg in October 2024, when he told PEOPLE that their relationship is “good for me.”

“So far, so good. Knock on wood,” he said. “We get along great. She’s been married, I’ve been married. You know, we’re adults, so you don’t have those kind of jealousy, young things.”

Their relationship commenced nearly four years after heended his engagementwith actressMeg Ryan. Mellencamp was also briefly linked to modelChristie Brinkley, however, theysplit in 2016.

Like Mellencamp, Kehrberg is no stranger to marriage. The musician married modelElaine Irwinin 1992, before splitting in 2011. Later, his marriage to his second wife, Victoria Granucci, came to an end in 1989. Mellencamp was also married to Priscilla Esterline from 1970 to 1981.

She has worked as a movie producer

Kehrberg is also familiar with working with A-listers, as she previously worked as a movie producer. She is credited for working on the 2017 rom-comThe Wilde Wedding, which starred actressGlenn Close.

Thefather of fiveopened up about the details of hisromance with Kehrbergduring his August 2023 interview with Maher. Mellencamp revealed that he met his girlfriend serendipitously at home.

“She’s a beautiful 57-year-old woman who just walked into my apartment in New York unexpectedly,” Mellencamp told the talk show host. “She was with a couple of friends. She walked in. She didn’t know I was going to be there. I didn’t know she was there. We met each other.”

Mellencamp said Kehrberg has “never” been “angry” with him

TheGrammy Awardwinner told Maher that Kehrberg has “never” been upset with him. When the comedian joked that Mellencamp and his love were in “the golden period” of their relationship, he was quick to reassure him that she’s “never even got angry” with him.

“It’s so hard to believe. I know,” Mellencamp said during the podcast. “She has a really high threshold for tolerance.”

She has lived in New York City

Kehrberg met Mellencamp in N.Y.C., the city she calls home. Six years before her late husband’s death, the two purchased a home on the Upper East Side, per theNew York Post.

During her time in New York, Kehrberg has attended many events among A-listers. In June 2018, she attended the18th Annual Midsummer Night Drinks Benefiting God’s Love We Deliverevent with her late husband.

Not only has Mellencamp spoken about his relationship publicly, he has even introduced his girlfriend to his family. In August 2023, Kehrberg attended a school event alongside Mellencamp for his granddaughter Slate.

The preteen is the daughter ofThe Real Housewives of Beverly HillsalumTeddi MellencampandEdwin Arroyave. While at the event, the couple twinned in white T-shirts, black trousers and black sneakers. They were photographed hugging in the street.

She has two children

Mellencamp is not the only parent in his relationship, as Kehrberg has two children of her own. She welcomed two sons during a prior relationship, perPage Six. However, not much is publicly known about them.

The rocker’s girlfriend is not only passionate about making movies, but she also spends her free time attending fashion shows. Kehrberg was photographed at the Patrick Demarchelier special exhibition preview in September 2015.

While at the event, she wore a gray short-sleeved turtleneck blouse and leather skirt. She accessorized the look with open-toe heels and sunglasses and styled her blonde hair in a ponytail.
