Payton Pritchard may be aiming for a ring on the court in the 2024 NBA Finals, but he already put a ring on his wife, Emma MacDonald.

The Boston Celtics guard proposed to MacDonald in July 2023 after the two first made their relationship public in February 2023. The twogot marrieda year later in August 2024 in Harwich Port, Mass. with over 250 of their loved ones in attendance.

MacDonald has grown a large platform of her own, from becoming a New England influencer alongside her sister, Maggie MacDonald, to filming vlogs on her TikTok and YouTube channel. She has also shared some of her wedding planning process on both of her accounts, with Pritchard admitting she was taking the lead on planning.

Now that the two have tied the knot, MacDonald told PEOPLE she’s looking forward to starting her new chapter with Pritchard.

“We’re most excited about having the person you love being there with you through your highest and lowest moments and growing together through anything,” MacDonald said.

MacDonald grew up in Dennis, Mass., in Cape Cod, but she often visited Boston with her family.

“It is a small city, which makes it manageable, but it truly has so much character,” she toldForbesin November 2020. “We are proud to call ourselves Bostonians because of how much this city has to offer.”

MacDonald is a content creator

The New England native started her career making content alongside her sister, Maggie, but has since ventured into her own solo projects. She has accumulated over 800,000 followers on TikTok and 350,000 subscribers on YouTube, where she mainly posts vlogs about her daily life.

One of her most common video forms on TikTok are “get ready with me” videos, where MacDonald takes her viewers through her makeup and fashion routine. In May 2024, she shared avideoas she did her makeup ahead of Pritchard’s playoff game.

They met after Pritchard commented on one of her posts

“Worked out just how I wanted it to,” he joked.

MacDonald said that after the two began dating, Pritchard started calling her his girlfriend before they had talked about titles.

“I kinda already assumed she was my girlfriend,” he admitted. “I don’t know, I just thought it didn’t need to be said, I thought it already was.”

In a June 2023 YouTubevideo, MacDonald said the Instagram exchange took place in 2021, but their relationship didn’t progress after that. They later reconnected on the dating app Raya, though it’s unclear when they first started officially dating.

The couple both posted each other for the first time around Valentine’s Day in 2023.

Though MacDonald mainly posts videos on her own, she does sometimes feature Pritchard in her content. In one November 2023TikTok, MacDonald pet their shared dog while the basketball star watched a sports game in the background. The previous month, she shared the details of her and Pritchard’s outfits for a birthday party in anothervideo.

In June 2023, she also included Pritchard in one of herYouTubevlogs as they road-tripped to Naples, Fla.

They moved in together in March 2023

MacDonald and Pritchard first moved in together in March 2023 in a shared apartment in Boston, which she said helped make them closer in the June 2023 YouTube Q&A.

“It’s been so easy, it was such a seamless transition,” she said in the video. “I’ve never lived with someone before, and I feel like all I hear when you live with someone is it’s not the same, and your relationship is different, but with Payton and I, we’re completely the same. He’s still my best friend, we still wake up and do all of our little things together.”

In March 2024, the couple moved to a new apartment in Boston.

“This apartment’s beautiful and I’m so excited to be here, we love it,” she said in a March 2024video.

MacDonald and Pritchard got engaged in July 2023

After less than a year of dating, Pritchard proposed to MacDonald on a beach in Cape Cod in July 2023. “A love for a lifetime,” the two captioned their engagementphotos.

Since then, MacDonald was in the throes of wedding planning between picking out her dress and the decor for the big day.

For Pritchard, the priority was to have a nice lounge after the ceremony is over and building up the playlist, he toldNBC Sports Boston.

They got married in August 2024

Pritchard and MacDonald tied the knot at Wychmere Beach Club with Pritchard’s former teammate, retired NBA starBlake Griffin, officiating the ceremony. MacDonald told PEOPLE she opted for a “New England coastal” aesthetic to honor her growing up in Cape Cod, Mass.

Despite their large guest list, MacDonald said that she and Pritchard made sure to build in intimate moments for themselves as well.

“We also made sure on our wedding day that we had many moments where Payton and I could take a step back and just enjoy it all, or have moments alone to connect,” she asid.

Now, the couple are ready to embark on their next chapter. Pritchard described MacDonald as confident and hardworking, adding that “she is always there for me and has my back.” MacDonald, for her part, enjoys Pritchard’s “selfless, caring” nature.

“I’m lucky to get to see this side of him,” she says. “He is truly the most loving person I know and would do absolutely anything for me and us as a couple.”
