Scott was arrested for the first time in August 2015 after his performance at Lollapalooza in which he allegedly encouraged attendees to climb the barricades and storm the stage. In a video of the performance, Scott gestured toward the crowd, saying, “Everyone in a green shirt get the f— back,” referring to the security guards.

His performance was shut down just five minutes after he started as dozens of fans joined him on stage while he chanted, “We want rage.” However, the music was soon cut off, and Scott was warned the show could not go on until the fans got off the stage, at which point he said, “Listen, they’re gonna stop the show if y’all don’t get down. I wanna finish performing. We can start over, everybody just get down.”

Despite his plea, it was too late and the show was over, with Scott being taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct.

“The performer played one song and then began telling fans to come over the barricades,” the Office of Emergency Management spokeswoman Melissa Stratton toldABC 7at the time. “Due to the security’s quick response, the situation was remedied immediately and no fans were injured. The performer fled the scene and was taken into custody a short while later.”

In November 2021, Scott faced his biggest controversy yet after 10 people died and hundreds were injured during his Astroworld Festival performance held in his hometown of Houston. After the tragedy, people were quick to call Scott into question, holding him accountable for the events that transpired.

A month later, Scott sat down for an interview with Charlemagne Tha God where he shared that hecouldn’t hear the screamscoming from the crowd and didn’t see the injuries that were occurring.

“Anytime you can hear something like that, you want to stop the show, you want to make sure fans get the proper attention they need. And anytime I could see anything like that, I did,” Scott said. “I stopped it like a couple times to just make sure everybody was okay. I really just go off of the fans' energy as a collective and I just didn’t hear that.”

Though Scott faced potential charges after one of the injured attendees sued him for $1 million, a Texas grand jury decided not to indict him in June 2023.
