When it comes to psychologically twisted horror, leaving more to the imagination often makes for a bone-chilling experience.

That’s apparently the philosophy behindYellowjackets’ new enigmatic teaser, which offers the briefest of glimpses at its upcoming third season, debuting Friday, Feb. 14. Seriously, blink — and you may miss it.

As the 15-second clip starts, the camera zooms in on two bees crawling around a skull’s dirt-crusted eye socket. A necklace with a heart-shaped ring also dangles out of the socket.

While the camera slowly zooms out, the tagline pops on the screen, “This Valentine’s Day. Eat your heart out.” All the while, snippets show cast members in various states of anguish, including Sophie Nélisse screaming into the frigid unknown.

Though not part of the visual, Hilary Swank and Joel McHale will guest star in the new season.

Season 3 will likely pick up following the events of the season 2 finale, after the Yellowjackets — a high school girls’ soccer team from New Jersey stranded in the Canadian wilderness — resorted to cannibalism. But instead of chowing down on Natalie (Sophie Thatcher), their victim became Javi (Luciano Leroux), who fell through the ice during the hunt.

Upon learning what the Yellowjackets did to Javi, Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) isolated himself in Javi’s old hiding spot.

Inan interviewwith PEOPLE in April 2023,Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays the younger Taissa, explained that becoming a fake cannibal onYellowjacketsmade her somewhat ambivalent.

“It was disgusting… but also kind of delicious,” she said then. “That’s all I’m gonna say about that.”

In one scene from the second episode of season 2, jackfruit and rice paper rolls were used as a substitute for flesh but Nélisse admitted it was still an “absolutely disgusting” experience.

“It was just, [I] couldn’t wrap my head around what I was doing, and all I could see was this weird skin,” she continued. “And it felt so realistic.”

Season 3 ofYellowjacketspremieres on Friday, Feb. 14. on Paramount+ with Showtime before its on-air debut on Sunday, Feb. 16.
